LaGrange College has the distinction of being the oldest private college in the state of Georgia. LaGrange College was originally founded as an all-women’s academy in 1831 and officially became a coed institution in 1953. LaGrange College implements the 4-1-4 academic calendar, which allows learners to explore their interests during an Interim Term in January. This time gives learners the opportunity to delve into a subject through on-campus projects, independent research, internships and study abroad experiences. Notable alumni of LaGrange include “Blondie” cartoonist Dean Young, author Terry Kay and special effects animator Lee Crowe.
