With two campuses in New York and three scattered around the world, the New York Institute of Technology bills itself as a global private university. In New York, the school has a location in Manhattan and another on Long Island, known as the Old Westbury campus. The school also has campuses in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; Nanjing, China; and Vancouver, Canada. There are housing options, student organizations, and fraternities and sororities for undergraduates at each New York campus. Some majors are offered at both New York campuses; others are specific to Manhattan or Old Westbury.

NYIT’s sports teams, known as the Bears, mainly participate in the Eastern College Athletic Conference. NYIT’s baseball team is the school’s only NCAA Division I team; most teams play in Division II. In addition to its undergraduate offerings, NYIT has a medical school and graduate health programs. Notable alumni of NYIT include MLB Network host Brian Kenny, Fox News Channel anchor Patti Ann Browne and Chicago White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper.
