Outside the classroom, Kean learners can get involved by exploring more than 150 clubs, writing for The Cougar’s Byte newsletter, or by visiting the two cougar mascots who live in a nearby zoo. The university officially adopted the cougars, named Sage and Scout, and pay for the animals’ food, medical costs and toys. Student athletes can play at the recreational level or join the navy and white Kean Cougars varsity sports teams, which participate in the NCAA Division III New Jersey Athletic Conference.
